Duboisetfils is up to something.
From a watchmanic’s perspective: “that guy in suit is Jean-Claude Biver but who are these young dudes?”
Kidding aside, this is quite some publicity work by TAG don’t you think? Best of both worlds, and throw in a McLaren P1 supercar to equation.

One of the major developments when the blog was mostly off was Ben Clymer’s Talking Watches chapter with Jean-Claude Biver. Now, the last 35 years have seen many ground breaking designers, watch making masters and industry leaders but I think we have to have a consensus on the fact that this gentleman along with Nicholas Hayek (and some indy brands) single handedly kept Swiss watchmaking afloat against the swarming quartz watches.
I share this here because I know some of the friends and followers of this blog do not necessarily follow Hodinkee periodically and it will be a shame if this interview goes unnoticed.
On my part , I was fascinated to listen how at one time in the past, the commisioned watches are delivered to the owner by a senior of the company. literally to the door. This for me is true representation of artisanal approach of closing a business relationship. The person that delivers the watch even got to have dinner with the family et al. One of the many reasons people crave for nostalgia. I guess. “Aahhhh remember the day how my 600.000 USD Patek was delivered home, and we had a lovely dinner?”
While I was away (or lets say blog less due to work load) I cant help but notice the ongoing soar in red and double red rolex subs. What was once USD, is becoming EUR or even worse, GBP
I wonder how far this trend is going to continue.
One of the best Bonds for me and an avid animal rights fighter. Let’s give it up for @PierceBrosnan and his @SpeakeMarin watch

Also when we were away Hodinkee stocked up their shop. If you had an eye on sthg special and long gone, you might be delighted to see a replenished stock
While we were away good stuff kept happening in Dubois. Some fine gent discovered this antique Dubois pocket watch in Canada and donated it to Dubois’ museum.
The brand also keeps going big in retailer side of operations, also some 60 DBF003s found new homes and owners. So it is all looking good. Where all else is going digital, it is good to have some luxury stuff stay mechanical.
Today there was no escape from the Terim Prandelli meeting in a funeral gathering. (Prandelli asking Terim’s phone number and Instagram user name bla bla) It was all over the papers (both dailies and sports) and I cant help but notice Cesare Prandelli’s watch choice.
Maybe not a radical gamechanger as his predecessor Mancini’s Richard Mille (built to his name by the way) but the new Italian in town was classy with IWC Top Gun DoppelChronograph. I think a solid wrist piece to start with is an Italian-tang.
